The Cavan Centre, located in Ballyjamesduff, County Cavan, Ireland, has been a pivotal institution since 1977, providing support to over 124,500 disadvantaged individuals. Funded by the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration & Youth under the UBU Programme, the Department of Employment Affairs & Social Protection, and Dublin City Council, this voluntary organization and registered charity focuses on expanding personal and social development through outdoor education, experiential learning, and training.
The Centre’s mission is to offer a residential resource that promotes Youth & Community Work based on a Community Development process. This is primarily targeted at disadvantaged and marginalized groups from the North Inner City of Dublin. Through the medium of education, experiential learning, and personal development, the Cavan Centre aims to foster growth and development in these communities.
Visitors to the Centre can engage in a variety of activities, both on-site and utilizing local amenities such as Lough Sheelin and Mullaghameen forest. The facility offers homely accommodation and food, with all activities and training sessions led by qualified Community Youth Workers. Programs offered encompass outdoor education, experiential learning, training programs, and respite stays.
