The Cathedral of Saint Patrick and Saint Felim, also known as Cavan Cathedral, is a prominent Roman Catholic cathedral located in Cavan, Ireland. Serving as the seat of the Bishop of Kilmore and the mother church of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Kilmore, it holds significant historical and architectural value.

Construction of the present cathedral began in 1938 under the guidance of Bishop Patrick Lyons and was completed in 1942. The architectural design, crafted by Ralph Byrne of W.H. Byrne & Son, presents an unorthodox layout for Irish churches. The nave is uniquely lined with columns that extend down both sides and turn to form what appears to be the beginning of a rood screen. Additionally, the transepts create a strong line across the cathedral, distinct from the nave. The altar is set in a recess opposite the nave, adding to the unique design. Built from white granite by John Sisk & Son, the construction cost totaled £209,000.

Externally, the cathedral is characterized by a classical portico topped with a tower, creating an impressive facade. The cathedral was dedicated to Saint Patrick and Saint Felim in 1942 and was consecrated in 1947.

Visitors and parishioners alike praise the cathedral for its beauty and spaciousness. It is noted for having large screens that enhance the visibility of events, making it an excellent venue for ceremonies like communions. Additionally, the cathedral’s connection to Saint Patrick’s College, which celebrated its 150th anniversary, adds to its cultural and historical significance.

Cavan Cathedral is open to visitors and worshippers during the following hours:
