Part One:
Cavan Burren Park, situated near the village of Blacklion on the Cavan/Fermanagh border, welcomed its first visitors in May 2014. This park has a history stretching back over 340 million years to the Carboniferous period, when the area was submerged under a tropical sea. Today, visitors can delve into this ancient past at the park’s interpretative center, which is an entryway to a prehistoric and natural landscape. Located just off the N16 Sligo – Enniskillen route, under the shadow of Cuilcagh Mountain, the park is conveniently positioned 40 minutes from both Cavan town and Sligo, and 20 minutes from Enniskillen.
The interpretative center at Cavan Burren Park serves as the starting point for five distinct walking trails that navigate through historic sites and geological formations.
